Distribution and Habitat
- Originally described from Norway (Trondheim area) and Sweden (Torne lappmark).
- Found in subalpine and low alpine zones.
- Grows in moist willow thickets (vierkratt).
- Present in Canada (Labrador, Newfoundland).
Morphological Characteristics
- Plants are cespitose (growing in tufts) and short-rhizomatous.
- Culms (stems) are 18–80 cm tall.
- Leaves are 2.5–11.5 mm wide and sparingly scabrous (rough to the touch).
Hybridization
