Calystegia spithamaea, commonly known as Low False Bindweed, is a perennial vine or forb/herb belonging to the genus Calystegia. It is also known as Upright Bindweed, Erect Bindweed, and Low Bindweed.

Taxonomy and Nomenclature

Distribution and Habitat

The native Erect Bindweed is found primarily in central and New England, growing in sand and gravel soils. One subspecies, Calystegia spithamaea ssp. purshiana, can be found growing in a shale barren in Allegany Co., Maryland. It can be found as far up as dry low elevation sites.
