Distribution and Habitat:

  • Discovered in three localities in southern Norway: Aust-Agder, Hedmark (Ringsaker) and Rogaland (Rennesy).
  • Found on coastal earth banks, for example on the Isle of Hoy, Scotland.
  • Reported in Yunnan, China.
  • Found in Vstergtland, Sweden.
  • Also found in the Aegean (Chios).

Morphological Characteristics:

  • Thallus squamulose.
  • Squamules are small, typically up to 3 mm in diameter, but rarely up to 4 mm.
  • Squamules are (150 -) 200-300 (- 350) ?m thick.
  • Squamules are dispersed to contiguous or partly imbricate (overlapping).
  • Squamules are often divided.

Interactions with Other Organisms:

  • Found in locations where Schismatomma virgineum is also present.
