Distribution and Habitat
- Native to Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as parts of Northern Mexico.
- Thrives in hot and dry areas.
- Tolerant of clay, sandy, and caliche soils.
Morphological Characteristics
- Upright, bushy plant with narrow green to gray-green foliage.
- Cup-shaped flowers, typically bright to lemon yellow, approximately 1 inch in diameter. The color fades to orange as the flower matures.
