Astragalus douglasii var. perstrictus is primarily found in the desert transition areas of southern California, specifically in San Diego County and the Anza Borrego Desert State Park’s Jacumba Mountain Wilderness. It can be found in chaparral, foothill woodland and valley grassland habitats and lower mountain slopes.
