Pseudolepicolea fryei, also known as Frye's Alaskan Threadwort, is a species of leafy liverwort in the family Pseudolepicoleaceae.

Taxonomy and Nomenclature

  • Synonyms: Lepicolea fryei, Lophochaete fryei (Perss.) R.M. Schust.

The genus name Pseudolepicolea is derived from "pseudo-" + Lepicolea.

Distribution and Habitat

  • Pseudolepicolea fryei is found in the USA and Canada.
  • It is widespread in suitable habitats throughout the Brooks Range of Arctic Alaska and its northern slopes.
  • It has also been found in the Antarctica/subantarctic or Southern regions.

  • Pseudolepicolea quadrilaciniata is another species within the Pseudolepicolea genus. Synonym: Blepharostoma pigafettoanum
  • Pseudolepicolea trollii (Herzog) Grolle &amp Ando has also been recognized in bryoflora.
