Distribution and Habitat

  • Native to central and northern California.
  • Found in drier, upland portions of Gotchen Meadows, southeastern Mount Adams, Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
  • Also found in Colorado and Idaho.
  • Typically establishes in rocky soils with low nutrients and moisture.

Morphological Characteristics

  • Leaves at the base are sessile (without a stalk) or have a short petiole (stalk).
  • Basal leaves are oblong, measuring approximately 1/3 to 1 inch in length.
