Distribution and Habitat
- Principally found in southern Africa (approximately 50 species).
- Approximately 10 species are located in the highlands of tropical Africa, extending to Ethiopia.
- Three species are native to Madagascar.

- Ecology: Brachystegia woodland on rocky slopes, gully forest, and, rarely, water margins of rain-forest and riverine forest and swamps.
