Morphological Characteristics
- Shoots are very small, typically about 1.5 cm long and less than 0.5 mm wide.
- Fresh shoots appear smoothly cylindrical and bluish-green.
- It is described as a glaucous moss.
- It is a pleurocarpous moss.
Distribution and Habitat
- Native to California.
- Found in British Columbia.
- Reported in Serbia and Montenegro (Myurella sibirica).
- Also found in Emmet County, Michigan.
- Grows in rock crevices on thin soil.
- Present in Northern and Southern Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
- Documented in Llanquihue and Valdivia.
Conservation Status
- Listed as Endangered by IUCN (1994).
- Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 2B.3 in California.
