Distribution and Habitat

  • Reported from locations including the British Isles, Luxembourg, Turkey, East Azerbaijan (Iran), and Zemlya Frantsa-Iosifa Archipelago (Franz Josef Land).

Morphological Characteristics

  • Lacks a thallus or its own photobiont.
  • Aspect more or less similar to Arthonia varians growing on Lecanora rupicola, that has narrower spores.

Ecology

  • It is sometimes found growing on the apothecia of Rhizoplaca chrysoleuca and Psoroma hypnorum.
  • It can be a parasite on species of the Lecanora dispersa s.l.
