Distribution and Habitat

Arenaria ciliata is found in open grassland and on bare rock. Specifically, it is a calcicole (a plant that thrives in lime-rich soils) that grows in open mountain grassland and on north-facing Carboniferous limestone cliffs, such as those in the Ben Bulben range in County Sligo, Ireland. It is also found in other locations in Europe, including Switzerland, the Savojskch Alps, and the Dolomiten in Italy.
