Distribution and Habitat
- Native to India, Southeast Asia, Malesia, Australia, and possibly Melanesia.
- Also found in Madagascar and the Pacific Islands.
- Found in partial shade, often at altitudes between 150 and 280 meters.
Morphological Characteristics
- Annual mat-forming grass.
- Culms (stems) are prostrate, ranging from 20 to 60 cm long, and root from the lower nodes.
- Culm-nodes can be glabrous (smooth) or pubescent (hairy).
- Leaves are lanceolate, measuring 5-15 cm x 0.2-1.5 cm.
