Cryptantha pterocarya is a species of flowering plant belonging to the borage family (Boraginaceae). It is commonly known as wingnut cryptantha, wingnut catseye, winged pick-me-not, or Wing-Nut Cryptantha.

Distribution and Habitat

  • Native to the western United States.
  • Also native to Mexico.
  • Specifically found in the southwestern United States.
  • Observed in locations such as Maricopa County, Arizona; the Eldorado Mountains; the southern Goodnoe Hills of south-central Klickitat County, WA; and the Piute Mountains, San Bernardino County.
  • Grows on sandy soils, such as along the old Vantage Highway.
