Taxonomy and Nomenclature
- Scientific Name: Coscinodon cribrosus (Hedw.) Spruce

- Synonyms: Grimmia cribrosa Hedw.
The species was initially placed in the genera Grimmia and Weissia before being assigned to the genus Coscinodon by Richard Spruce in 1849.
Distribution and Habitat
- Coscinodon cribrosus is an uncommon moss with widely disjunct sites across North America.
- It has been found in the southern Prince Charles Mountains and is noted as a lower elevation arid land moss.
