Coscinodon cribrosus, also known as Sieve-tooth Moss or Copper Coscinodon, is a moss species belonging to the family Grimmiaceae.

Taxonomy and Nomenclature

  • Scientific Name: Coscinodon cribrosus (Hedw.) Spruce
  • Family: Grimmiaceae
  • Synonyms: Grimmia cribrosa Hedw.

The species was initially placed in the genera Grimmia and Weissia before being assigned to the genus Coscinodon by Richard Spruce in 1849.

Distribution and Habitat

  • It has been found in the southern Prince Charles Mountains and is noted as a lower elevation arid land moss.
