Distribution and Habitat
- Cladopodiella fluitans has a boreal-montane circumpolar distribution.
- It grows amongst Sphagnum moss in high moors (hoogveen), on moist heaths, and around heathland pools.
- It has been found in SE Poland, and within the Roztocze National Park (RPN).
- It's native to Canada.
Morphological Characteristics
- Cladopodiella fluitans has oblong leaves with 2 rounded lobes and a notch between them.
- It has fine threads.
- Shoots are less than 1 mm wide, and leaves are up to 0.5 mm.
- Plants are green and often tinged red or reddish-brown.
Interactions with Other Organisms
- It is often found growing amongst Sphagnum moss.
- It can be found growing with other liverworts, such as Calypogeia sphagnicola, Cephalozia connivens, Mylia annomala, and Gymnocolea.
- It is an indicator species for poor fens.
